Reminder for the Last Day of Class on Thursday

* The next class on Thursday will be the last session of this course. Your final is 9:00 am -11:00 am on May 21st @ HW409. For the next class:

  • Next class is the last class to summit handwritten copy of one of 三字經, 千字文 or 百家姓 to get your lowest quiz grade replaced
  • Think of any questions you want to ask for the final exam
  • For the calligraphy class, bring some newspapers to be placed under the 宣紙 (You are very welcome to bring your calligraphy tools)  
  • Preview the basic strokes of  歐體 (歐陽詢楷書體)(The playlist of  歐陽詢基本筆法入門 is linked here)

We will emulate the Kaishu style of Ouyang Xun 歐陽詢 as it is the style that most beginners start with. After you have mastered all the basic strokes, the recommended way to practice your Chinese calligraphy to emulate the style of actual classics. Ouyang Xun (歐陽詢)'s 九成宮醴泉銘 is the one that has been most modeled after for over a thousand years.
